City of Arts and Sciences

The Ciudad de las Artes y las Ciencias (City of Arts and Sciences) is an architectural complex designed by the Valencian Santiago Calatrava. It has an opera house, an aquarium, an IMAX cinema and a science museum.  The Oceanogràfic, which is the biggest aquarium in Europe, hosts a huge diversity of aquatic species from all over the world. The Museum of Sciences Príncipe Felipe has different themed areas where the visitor can experience scientific principles in an amusing way and attend to show driven by the museum staff. The Hemisféric shows to the visitor documentary movies in IMAX format in its big spherical screen that creates the sensation of being inside of what is happening in the movie. The Palace of the Arts Reina Sofía offers opera concerts, zarzuela and orchestra music. It’s worth to check the programme of the event in it before going.

Inside the City of Arts and Sciences complex there’s also another space called Ágora, where many annual international events are celebrated, like the tennis Open 500 or the Valencia Fashion Week.

To arrive to the City of Arts and Sciences you can take your own vehicle, as it has an underground parking, or by the bus number 19, that stops 100 meters away the Hemisfèric.
